This is actually my first time to have a post baby meal plan. Crazy, huh? I really can't tell you what I did after babies 1 to 4. My mom always stays with us for a few days so that helps tremendously. This plan doesn't really include any freezer cooking. We've tried so many freezer meals and tried freezing several of our regular meals but we just aren't thrilled with the results. Hopefully that will change in the time to come as I love the thoughts of freezer cooking. So my plan is to mostly have easy meals with all the ingredients on hand.
Meals on Hand
Pesto Pasta, bread (freezer), fresh salad
Spaghetti (meat in freezer), bread (freezer), fresh salad
Garlic chicken w/ potatoes (baked together in oven) & frozen green veggie
Store bought frozen lasagna
Store bought frozen pizzas
Homemade frozen meatballs, potatoes, frozen veggie
Pita pizzas ( pitas frozen)
Roast (frozen) with potatoes and carrots in crockpot
Nachos (refried beans and meat frozen)
Tortellini soup in crockpot with frozen bread
Meatball soup in crockpot with frozen bread
Alfredo pasta with olives and chicken
Lunches or dinner, whichever meal Jeremy is not home for will be things like store bought chicken salad, grilled cheese, cheese tortillas, leftovers, or whatever can be found to eat.
Breakfast will about the same: cinnamon sugar toast, grits, oatmeal, bagels.....
I've been able to get several things accomplished before baby comes. I've got all her clothes and blankets washed and ready for use. I bought some new burp cloths. I wanted to make some but my cracked rib didn't allow me to sit and sew. I got the rest of the living room trim painted and I hope to finish Katie's trim and the trim in the sitting room. My mom and I took down the nasty shower doors and have replaced them with a shower curtain. So much nicer. I found the perfect laundry hamper for the end of the hall so now each individual person doesn't have to go to the other end of the house to the laundry room to put up dirty clothes. I got plants in my front porch pot and a hanging basket in my empty holder.
We stocked up at Costco on household items like detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, and dishwasher tabs. We bought some special nonperishable snacks for after baby like Babel cheese, yogurt, Pirate Booty, some kale and chia chips, dried coconut, raw almonds, and an energy mix with almonds, infused craisins, sunflower seeds, and edmane. We bought a much needed used couch from an acquaintance on Facebook but we've yet to get it to our house. Hopefully this rainy weekend we'll be able to get here. We plan to move our old couch to our "school room" and set it up as an extra sitting room. Jeremy's home office is in the room where Josh and/or Jeremy's older girls sleep so we need an extra place for people to congregate especially with the summer months coming. I'm still obsessing over getting 2 storm doors, one for front and one for back, with screens so we can get some fresh air in the house. We have 2 enormous picture windows in the front of our house , one in the living room and one in the adjoining sitting room. So there is no way to open them and let in fresh air. I hate them but at least they let in lots of light.
I'm rather chatty lately. Can you tell? Or maybe it's because I'm not blogging from my phone...more on that later.
