6 Weeks of Eva

It's one of those times where I can't believe Eva is already 6 weeks old but then on the other hand it's like she's always been here.

Sunday on her 6 week birthday she weighed in at 11 pounds and 2 ounces.

She is a happy baby as long as she gets her sleep. She is actually my first content baby. It's amazing!

She is also my first baby to go to sleep peacefully in her crib. I can't tell you how refreshing that is. Having 4 other children that need my attention makes it impossible to consistently help her to sleep. I pray that her peaceful sleep continues.

She does have to be swaddled very tightly, which makes me nervous that she will get dependent on being swaddled but it's so nice right now I don't want to mess with it.

I try to only nurse her every 3 hours unless it obvious that she is hungry before. We aren't on a schedule. I just try to see what time she nurses and then wait 3 hours until the next feeding, except in the evening.

Evening is a rough time for her regardless of how well the day has gone. I am much calmer during her rough hours than I was with the other children, maybe because it's the only time she really gets upset. She wakes up at night several times, usually at least every 3 hours. : (

She does not do good, however, away from home. She doesn't sleep well in the car or when we are out. Since we live 45 minutes from town and church it makes for some stressful outings. I do a lot of nursing and try to remain relaxed. : )

I am sorry to say that this is the first time I have enjoyed the newborn stage...might have something to do with the baby not screaming non-stop and actually sleeping. Feeling helpless with a new baby is a rotten feeling.
